About.

Holbeck, Still is the artistic vision of a musician who was born in Cornwall and raised in Somerset, UK. He trained from the age of 5 – studying piano, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone and conducting. At the age of 15, he won a coveted place at the Royal Academy of Music’s Junior Department, before gaining on the spot scholarships to study at The Royal College of Music, where he gained both bachelors, and postgraduate degrees.

During the last 15 years as a freelance performer, his experience has seen him perform at all of the UK’s major concert halls including The Royal Albert Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Royal Opera House and the Barbican, as well as the world famous London Palladium and even Buckingham Palace. He has toured the UK and Europe, worked with artists as diverse as Bernard Haitink and Sophie Ellis-Bextor, appeared on BBC Radio 3, Channel 4 and Sky Arts television, and has recorded for BAFTA Award winning drama.

He has worked as a performer and bandleader across many genres, ranging in style from Hip Hop to Funk to Big Band Jazz. Beyond the stage, his work in developing a yearly schedule in excess of 1300 gigs across London, led to him working with acts such as DJ Yoda, Krafty Kuts, Gilles Peterson, Freestylers and Empirical.

As a champion of musical education and outreach, he has long been dedicated to working with the most disadvantaged, less able or diverse communities: in this guise he has achieved Arts Council Funding for jazz education, worked with Live Music Now and English Touring Opera, and has a long running association with the London Symphony Orchestra’s Discovery programme. Most recently, he has been coaching postgraduate students at the Guildhall conservatoire, inspiring the next influx of young professional performers.

Holbeck, Still was born in early 2020, but is a culmination of this extensive and uniquely broad experience. Follow him on a journey of artistic experimentation.
